This sexual health clinic is a new facility in Eastleigh’s Swan Centre. The clinic features four consulting rooms, an interview room, and a laboratory.
By repurposing a former retail unit, the clinic brings health services to a central and accessible location in the town centre.
Our vibrant and contemporary approach to the design was intended to help de-stigmatise the use of these services.
We designed a series of abstract, interlocking shapes. Printed on window vinyls, the design not only adds privacy to the waiting area but also comes alive with vibrant colours when sunlight filters through.
Backlit ceiling tiles in the treatment rooms project soothing colours to create a calming atmosphere and provide distraction during often uncomfortable procedures.
Since its opening in the centre of town, together with its longer opening hours, the clinic has seen a rise in ‘walk ins’ for appointments.
Staff told us that patients comment favourably on the artwork and colours throughout the clinic saying it feels light, bright, clean and modern.
The design is much appreciated and seen as a bench mark for future units managed by the Trust.
The work was developed in collaboration with Hunter’s architects.
