We were approached to integrate bespoke artwork into a new health and care hub in Dunstable, Grove View.
Grove View combines health, wellbeing, and care services with 98 homes for over-55s, serving 50,000 people. It unites NHS, council, and voluntary providers in one seamless, community-focused space.
Working closely with the project team, we brought artist Marcus Walters on board to create artworks that connect the building’s spaces to the local community and landscape.
Local residents shared personal memories, images, and text celebrating the surrounding Dunstable Downs, which were woven into the final artworks.
Each floor reflects a distinct colour theme linked to the Downs: yellows for the ground floor, red on the first floor, green on the second floor, and blue on the third floor.
"The artwork celebrates the character of the beautiful countryside surrounding Dunstable, specifically the Downs, looking at all aspects of the landscape, from the expansive views and contours of the landscape to local flowers and wildlife."

The vibrant colour scheme and bold wayfinding come together beautifully with Marcus’ ‘screen print’ artworks to create an uplifting and welcoming first impression of the building.
That we were asked to bring the work into the counselling therapy rooms post-completion is an endorsement of its contribution to people’s comfort and wellbeing.
